Shirley Oaks ex-residents to get 'abuse' payouts
A former resident of a council-run children's home in south London has told the BBC of abuse he suffered at the hands of a teacher there in the 1950s.
Twenty-seven men have been named as alleged paedophiles in a report by the Shirley Oaks Survivors Association.
Its report covers the period from the 1950s to the closure of the network of homes in 1983.
Lambeth Council says it is preparing to pay compensation to every ex-resident, because all were judged to be at risk.
BBC home affairs correspondent Tom Symonds reports.
