Rich Thomson became the first person to suffer a shark attack in UK waters whilst he was surfing off Bantham beach in Devon.

The secondary school teacher told BBC Radio 5 live's Chris Warburton he received a 'bruised thigh' and 'cut thumb' before batting the 3 ft smooth-hound shark away.
