Covid: Greater Manchester to move to Tier 3, says Boris Johnson
Greater Manchester will move to England's highest tier of coronavirus restrictions on Friday at 00:01 BST.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson says this means pubs and bars will close unless they are serving substantial meals and he strongly advises people against travel into and out of the area.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said tighter measures "would be certain to increase levels of poverty, homelessness and hardship".
