The scam that targets dog owners

When Sharon's dog Ronnie went missing, a man contacted her promising to return him.

Instead, she fell victim to an increasingly common scam.

More than 100 families have been targeted by criminals demanding ransoms while pretending to have their owners' missing dogs.

The Doglost website, which tries to reunite owners with the lost pets, says it has been in touch with 19 police forces across the UK about the scam.
