Care home boss implies he may cover up mistakes

Undercover filming by BBC Panorama shows Bunty Malhotra - CEO of care home chain Prestwick Care - speaking to overseas staff and implying he is willing to cover up mistakes they make.

Staff working at Addison Court home - near Gateshead - have told the BBC they feel exploited and trapped by the firm that brought them to the UK to work.

The investigation also saw low staffing levels, which health professionals say was putting vulnerable residents at risk.

During the meeting at Addison Court, Mr Malhotra implies mistakes may not be reported to the authorities to protect staff's registrations with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which is known as their "pin".

Prestwick Care says any suggestion that there was systematic wrongdoing or bad practice is unfair and inaccurate.
