Forces help clear Edinburgh streets after heavy snow

Fuel supplies are running low in large parts of Scotland after a fortnight of snow and sub-zero temperatures.

In Edinburgh, the armed forces were brought in to help clear snow and ice after the worst snowfalls in the city for more than 45 years.

Sqn Ldr Jason Aslett said the service personnel had provided "muscle power" to help deal with the situation, rather than any specific military skills.
