'Inappropriate' Newmarket homes plan rejected

West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock (Con) has welcomed the Communities Secretary's rejection of plans for 1,200 new houses in Newmarket.

The local council rejected proposals by Lord Derby for the estate on land at Hatchfield Farm. He appealed and an inquiry was held last year.

Now Eric Pickles has confirmed the planning inspector's decision to refuse the application.
