Bideford bid for new Portas pilot

Towns in the South West including Bideford have been given a second chance to bid for government cash to become a "Portas Pilot".

Retail guru Mary Portas was asked by the government for ideas to rejuvenate high streets across the country, but only 12 towns were chosen for a share of the £1.2m pot.

But the government has now announced more cash will be available for another 15 pilot towns later this year.
