Police describe unprecedented violence of summer riots
Police officers have been talking about the unprecedented level of violence they encountered during last summer's riots.
Officers came under attack from rioters carrying weapons and throwing a variety of missiles.
Four consecutive nights of looting and arson in various parts of the country left five people dead and led to more than 4,000 suspects being arrested.
