Soldier raced from Afghanistan for baby's early arrival

A Royal Anglian whose wife went into labour nine weeks early managed to dash home from Afghanistan in time for the arrival of his baby boy.

Sgt Si Mercer, of Colchester in Essex, who is on his fifth tour in southern Afghanistan, raced home from Camp Bastion after a late-night call to let him know his wife, Karen, was having their first baby.
