North West Blood Bikes service receives lottery grant
A group of volunteer motorcyclists who deliver emergency supplies to hospitals at night have received a grant of £9,600 from the Big Lottery Fund.
Riders from North West Blood Bikes (Lancs and Lakes) transport blood and other medical supplies to help save money on taxis and delivery services.
The service operates across Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire and the grant will buy a new motorbike to help serve Chorley, Preston, Ormskirk and Southport.
A spokeswoman for the Big Lottery Fund said the bike service was "fantastic".
