Pumpkin shortage in Kent and Sussex after wet summer

With Halloween just weeks away, farmers say there may not be enough pumpkins to go around this year.

The wet start to the summer in Kent and Sussex has meant less fruit has made it to harvest.

Mark Harris said he was struggling to supply shops, with many green and unripened pumpkins still in the fields at Broadditch Farm, near Dartford.

In Crawley, Stuart Beare, owner of Tulleys Farm shop, said he had been able to source only 3,000 pumpkins so far - about half his normal stock.
