Care leavers face high risk of homelessness
Young people who have been in care and do not have parents to turn to have a high chance of becoming homeless according to a study by the University of Kent.
BBC Inside Out has been given exclusive access to the research which looks at what happens to young people when they leave the care system.
The study found that almost two out of three young people will be without a home at some time after leaving care.
Inside Out spoke to Ben King who faced challenging times when he left care as a teenager, ending up sleeping rough for two years.
The government says that cases like Ben's are the minority and almost 90% of care leavers are in suitable accommodation.
Inside Out South East is on BBC One on Monday, 17 December and nationwide for seven days thereafter on the iPlayer.
