Peaky Blinders: Birmingham razor gang turned into TV drama

The story of a violent Victorian gang who used razors as weapons has been turned into a TV drama.

The gang, who operated in Birmingham in the 1890s, were known as the Peaky Blinders.

They got their name from their habit of hiding razor blades in the peaks of their caps.

Inside Out has looked at how screenwriter Steven Knight has adapted this true life gangster story for television.

This feature was broadcast on Inside Out West Midlands in January 2013. Peaky Blinders is broadcast on BBC Two at 21:00 BST on Thursday, 12 September.
