Drugs network 'dismantled' by police

An international criminal network that smuggled over 52 tonnes of drugs into the UK from Spain has been dismantled, police said.

The Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) found this consignment of drugs destined for Salford in San Sebastian, Spain, in 2008.

Detectives said it had been ordered for delivery by network boss Philip Baron, originally of Salford, who pleaded guilty to importing cocaine and cannabis and money laundering at Liverpool Crown Court.
