Memorial dedication for Bevin Boys WWII's 'forgotten people'

A memorial to thousands of men known as Bevin Boys who worked in coal mines during World War II is set to be officially dedicated.

Former Nottinghamshire councillor Joan Taylor MBE, who campaigned for the tribute, said: "Bevin Boys are forgotten people. They were conscripted and a lot of people don't realise that."

The memorial has been at the National Memorial Arboretum, in Staffordshire, for 18 months but will be dedicated by a member of the Royal Family, in May.
