Gertrude Bell's impact remembered 145 years from her birth

This weekend marks 145 years since the birth of Gertrude Bell, hailed as one of the North East's most extraordinary women.

Born in Washington, Tyne and Wear, she was the daughter of one of Middlesbrough's wealthy ironmasters and helped draw the boundaries of modern day Iraq.
