Kent chief constable Ian Learmonth to retire in January

Kent's Chief Constable, Ian Learmonth, is to retire after 40 years in the police service.

Mr Learmonth, who was appointed in 2010, said he would leave in January.

The former deputy chief constable of Norfolk, who served most of his career in Essex, oversaw more than £50m budget cuts during his brief tenure in Kent.
