Navy chefs stir up pudding interest

Sailors at a Royal Navy training base in the South West have been stirring up some Christmas cheer by making festive pudding mixture.

Trainee chefs at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall have been learning about the Navy's traditional recipe and customs as part of "Stir-up Sunday" - the day on which Christmas puddings are traditionally made.

The Navy tradition involves making the mixture in a barrel and stirring it with an oar.
