England storm: South sees floods, power cuts and fallen trees

The south of England saw trees brought down, power cuts and floods as gale-force winds and torrential rain hit the region overnight.

In Dorset, 30 people were rescued after getting trapped in their cars.

Thousands of homes are still without power across Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset and West Sussex.

Michelle Bird, from Emsworth, was among those mopping up after water flooded her home and destroyed her new carpets.

While Sarah Brewer has been without power at her Burridge home.

Ch Insp Kelly Whiting said Hampshire police had taken more then 2,500 calls in the last 24 hours.
