Fares hike: Protests at above average increases

As Greater Anglia and C2C train fares go up campaigners have protested that the increase in the cost of rail travel has outstripped increases in wages.

The cost of an annual season ticket between Ipswich and London has rise by 2.7% taking it though the £6,000 barrier for the first time.

The new fares from Bedford and Milton Keynes have increased by more than 3% while the cost of commuting between Cambridge and Peterborough has risen by more than 4%.
