Tackling growing cash machine crime and 'skimming'

Almost eight million Britons use a cash point every day amounting to three billion withdrawals every year.

But who is watching when we access our accounts and how safe are transactions at ATMs?

Cash machine crime tripled last year in the UK with thieves using more sophisticated tactics like "skimming".

This involves fitting a false front to an ATM which can read the magnetic strip on a card.

Inside Out's Mary Rhodes went undercover and discovered sophisticated skimming kits from America have been sent to Birmingham where individuals have been told they can earn up to £15,000 per month.

Mary Rhodes spoke to Craig Jones from the banking industry body, The UK Cards Association, to find out what is being done to tackle the growing problem of cash machine crime.
