Chartwell shows exhibition of Winston Churchill WW2 gifts

A collection of gifts given to Sir Winston Churchill during World War 2 has gone on display at Chartwell, his former home in Westerham, Kent.

Jon Primmer, exhibition curator, said items given by heads of state included a cigar box with a portrait of Churchill made of leaves, sent by the city of Leningrad.

Katherine Barnett, house and collections manager at Chartwell, told BBC reporter Dan Maclaren letters and gifts sent by everyday people showed "a lot of warm feeling" to the wartime prime minister.
