Bespoke bird box hobby takes off

What started as a hobby has taken over the lives of two friends who are taking hand-made bespoke bird boxes to a new level.

Essex builder Dennis Humphrey and Eric Simmons, who lives in Suffolk and works in security, began by making their boxes and tables for friends and family but now their work is taking off.

The pieces include a sparkplug bird box, a giant bolt for sparrows and even a cricket ball.
