East Midlands soldiers from The Royal Anglians on final tour

The largest deployment of troops from the East Midlands is currently serving in Afghanistan as the UK begins to pull out.

The 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, which recruits in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, is on its final tour of the country with the 9th/12th Royal Lancers.

Nottingham soldiers from 170 Engineering Group are also in Afghanistan, helping to dismantle the bases and their equipment.
