Tackling London's council house fraudsters

Inside Out's Mark Jordan investigates how London's local authorities are tackling council house fraudsters.

A recent Audit Commission report claimed social housing sublets present a bigger problem than housing benefit fraud.

It estimates that England's councils have lost control of around 100,000 properties.

London is the worst affected area because of the premium on sublet rentals in the city's private sector.

Mark Jordan joins investigators from Southwark and Westminster as they attempt to reclaim public housing in the hands of private profiteers.

Inside Out is broadcast on Monday, 3 March on BBC One London and nationwide for seven days thereafter on the iPlayer.
