Blur play 'intimate' gig for Wolverhampton arts centre

Pop group Blur performed in front of just 250 people in Wolverhampton to raise money for an arts centre.

The group played at the Newhampton Arts Centre on Saturday night after hearing the centre had lost its annual funding from the city council.

Stuart Lowbridge, who's a crew member with Blur and from Wolverhampton, organised the gig.

The band's frontman Damon Albarn said: "It's nice to be doing something useful to help this centre. Wolverhampton is very close to everyone in this band's heart."
