Chester Zoo Islands: Aerial view of attraction's new zone

The BBC has been given a preview of Chester Zoo's ambitious Islands project ahead of its opening.

The £30m attraction features six islands linked by bridges and a boat trip to see plants and animals from southeast Asia.

Chester Zoo said the 15-acre area is the "largest zoo development ever seen" in the UK and will be home to animals including tigers, orangutans and crocodiles.

Islands is due to open to the public on 13 July.
