Wheelchair user exposes potential airport security flaws
Wheelchair user Josh Gardner tests the strength of airport security by going undercover with secret cameras.
He took a return flight from Leeds-Bradford Airport to Malaga in his wheelchair.
Despite the precautions brought in since 9/11, he discovered that it was surprisingly easy to take prohibited items on to a plane.
Josh said that the security team did not examine his chair thoroughly enough, in common with other airports he has travelled to across Europe.
On both the outward and return journey, he was able to smuggle a bottle of water and a wheelchair tool kit through the airport without detection.
Leeds Bradford Airport said that it complies with, and exceeds, all the relevant requirements for security.
It also told Inside Out that the wheelchair was swabbed for explosives and that the wheelchair repair kit was a permitted item.
Inside Out is broadcast on Monday, 12 October on BBC One Yorkshire & Lincolnshire at 19:30 BST and nationwide on the iPlayer for 30 days thereafter.
