Chancellor reveals devolution deal for North East

The government has hailed a new deal to devolve more power and money to the North East as a "game-changer".

Chancellor George Osborne came to Teesside to reveal the details of the new agreement which will see two new elected mayors, in the Tees Valley and in the North East, along with the transfer of extra powers and responsibility for transport and planning,

There will also be a combined total of £45m of investment for the North East, through both mayors, every year.

Mr Osborne launched the new deal with Northern Powerhouse Minister James Wharton.
