Byron burger reaction is hysteria says Oliver Peyton

The reaction to the Byron burger restaurant chain’s treatment of illegal immigrants is “hysteria”, according to restaurateur Oliver Peyton.

The founder and chairman of Peyton & Byrne restaurant and cafe group has told Radio 4's Today that Byron was a good company.

Working in catering was a tough job, he said, and a clampdown on illegal workers should be focused on those who do not pay tax, not those who pay into the government coffers.

There have been a handful of protests in London over the company's alleged role in the raids.
