Thousands of dog fights are reported to the RSPCA

About 5,000 calls concerning dog fighting in the UK have been received by the RSPCA during the past decade.

The RSPCA has taken around 600 calls on the problem in Yorkshire alone, during the last ten years.

The maximum sentence for offenders is six months in prison and/or an unlimited fine, but campaigners want it to be raised to up to three years.
