The forgotten fish of the River Severn

The River Severn is set to undergo a £20m makeover designed to make it more accessible to a forgotten variety of fish - the shad.

Once a staple dish for people along the river, shad populations have plummeted since weirs were introduced.

It is hoped new fish passes will help boost numbers not only of the shad, but other migratory fish too.
