Car charging points 'hardly used'

City centre electric car charging points serve no purpose and are hardly ever used, according to a Berkshire environmental expert.

The views of writer and lecturer Peter McManners chime with those of with a committee of MPs, which said the millions spent on charging points had benefited just a handful of motorists.

There are now charging points in most of the region's main towns and cities, with more planned.
