Berkshire woman's struggle as rural house prices rise

Low salaries and rising house prices are forcing people out of the rural housing market, according to research by the National Housing Federation, which represents housing associations.

It found that across the South houses in rural areas cost 18% more than in urban areas, but salaries are 9% lower.

Chez Payne-Annets wants to live near her family in the village of Wargrave in Berkshire where she grew up, but cannot afford to buy a home there.

Instead she is renting a house built for local people to help them stay in the area.
