Walsall flight cage built for injured bats

Wildlife enthusiasts in the West Midlands have built a £3,000 rehabilitation cage to teach injured bats to fly.

Voluntary group Birmingham and Black Country Bat Group (BrumBats) have put up the "flight cage" in Walsall.

It said an adult bat named Bella is teaching 10 young bats, who were injured or exhausted, before they are returned to the wild.

It hopes to release them next month.

BrumBats said members of the public had brought more bats into care recently "partly due to adverse weather, such as the last winter and the heatwave in February last year".
