Birmingham's Frankfurt market 'to boost economy'
Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market, the largest of its kind outside Germany and Austria, is expected to provide a welcome lift for the local economy, according to the city council.
Last year, the market attracted four million visitors and the local authority said it brought tourists to the city, benefiting not just shops, but hotels and restaurants.
The market started in 2001 with just 24 stalls, but now has almost 200.
It runs between the Bullring and Centenary Square until 22 December.
