Christmas cast-offs transform Birmingham tip

A recycling tip in Birmingham has been transformed thanks to people's Christmas cast-offs.

Staff at the centre on Lifford Lane in Kings Norton have made use of about 150 old and unwanted snowmen, Santas and other decorations and put them on show around the tip.

Keith Stubbs, waste controller, said people have brought their children down without even using the tip.

Mark Heesom, general manager, said: "Every single one has been recovered from what would have been thrown away, but the condition is incredible.

"The condition of some material that does get thrown away is suitable for re-use and that's what we try to do."
