Struggle of GPs and hospitals in the West Midlands

Health professionals in the West Midlands are looking at different ways of working in a bid to cope with increased financial pressures.

There are not enough beds in hospitals to treat all patients that need care, so schemes have been launched to allow people to be treated at home.

Jaime Davies, from Holly Bank House in Willenhall, which provides short term care for patients, said they kept 254 patients out of hospital in November to free up valuable beds.

Dr Bob Morley, from Birmingham Local Medical Committee, said GPs are also struggling.
