Economists predict export growth in the West Midlands
The West Midlands now accounts for about 7% of the UK's gross domestic product (GDP) and the region also has the country's fastest growth in exports.
Prof David Bailey, from the Aston Business School, explains why in the recent past some local manufacturing has moved to cheaper European countries.
In contrast, Paul Forrest, from the West Midlands Economic Forum, says he expects the region's growth in exports to be 5-6% this year, compared to 2.5-3% nationally.
Business Secretary Vince Cable said growth in manufacturing in the West Midlands will help to lift the UK economy out of recession.
