Scientists warn over antibiotic-resistant superbug

A hospital superbug which is resistant to most antibiotics has been found at two locations in the West Midlands, a BBC investigation has found.

One elderly woman infected with Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) died in Wolverhampton, and ten patients were found to be carriers in Stoke-on-Trent.

Over the past four years, sixteen people have died in Manchester while infected with the bug.

Experts say while KPC blood infections are rare, they are difficult to treat.
