Aston University tower block demolished
A 21-storey tower block has been demolished in central Birmingham to make way for a five-acre park.
The Stafford Tower accommodation block at Aston University was built in the 1970s.
It is the third tower to be demolished at the university in recent years, with Lawrence and Dalton towers being brought down in 2011 as part of a £215m project to build new accommodation and create open spaces.
Billy Young, from DSM demolition, which brought the building down, said: "It's a very difficult, complex job, in a very tight space and it's been a 100% success."
