Trojan Horse: Park View Academy pupil dismisses safety claims

A pupil at Park View Academy, one of five schools in Birmingham put in special measures after an Ofsted inquiry, has dismissed suggestions students were put at risk.

The school was rated inadequate by the watchdog on Monday as part of an investigation into an alleged plot by some Muslims to take control of schools in the city.

Ofsted criticised the leadership and management at the school, as well as safeguarding arrangements for pupils.

A report by the watchdog said the school had not effectively raised students' awareness of the risks of extremism.

One pupil Kabir Khan, 15, said the school was "outstanding" and had not felt unsafe in the four years he had been there.

On Tuesday, the government said both Park View and Nansen Primary would lose their academy funding.
