Wolverhampton commuters welcome station investment
Commuters in Wolverhampton have welcomed plans to regenerate the railway station as part of an £18m investment in the city announced by government.
In all, Birmingham and the Black Country will receive almost £500m over the next three years as part of a boost for local economies across the UK.
The money will see transport links improved ahead of the HS2 high speed rail line and investment in projects designed to create new jobs.
In Wolverhampton, the funding will see the main station redeveloped as well as a revamp for the car park and improved links with both the city's new bus station and with Birmingham.
Despite the investment, Wolverhampton City Council is also looking to make cuts of £123m from its budget over five years.
