Knife amnesty campaign launched in Birmingham

Parents whose children died as a result of stabbings are promoting a campaign in Birmingham which is urging people to hand in knives.

A knife bin was unveiled at The Hub in Holford Drive, Perry Barr, as part of the "Save A Life Surrender A Knife" initiative.

Another knife bin is due to be opened in Sparkbrook next week, while Aston will get one next month.

Jason Edkins whose daughter Christina, 16, was stabbed as she travelled to school in the city last year, helped to promote the event.

He said: "If we can save one more life and stop families going through what we went through we'll be happy with that."
