Malala 'inspires' Birmingham pupils
As education activist Malala Yousafzai is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, one Birmingham primary has used the Birmingham schoolgirl as inspiration for a literacy campaign.
Teachers at inner city Nelson Primary School said reading standards have been increasing over the past year, particularly among boys.
Pupils have been writing about the importance of education, inspired by Ms Yousafzai's attempt to improve access to education for children around the world.
Ms Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen in October 2012 for campaigning for girls' education, lives in Birmingham and attends Edgbaston High School for girls.
She and Indian child rights campaigner Kailash Satyarthi received the awards in a ceremony in Oslo in Norway on Wednesday.
