Timelapse: Rebuilding Birmingham New Street station

The £750m transformation of Birmingham's New Street station and Grand Central shopping centre has been captured in timelapse photography.

The five-year revamp has included the demolition of the Stephenson Tower, along with the removal of 6,000 tonnes of concrete from New Street, to open up the 1960s building.

New Street is the busiest station outside of London, used by more than 170,000 passengers a day.

The re-development is designed to increase capacity, with the new concourse five times larger than its predecessor.
