Rail passengers 'squashed in like animals going to market'
Rail passengers say overcrowding on services running through the heart of England is getting worse.
Among London Midland commuters' complaints is that they are travelling "cattle class" on some West Midlands services, with "faces pressed against doors".
The service operator says it has spent £40m on new trains, with a 40% increase in regional demand in the last eight years exacerbated in 2016 by losing two trains to fire, a temporary line closure and seasonal pressures.
London Midland provides services across the West Midlands and beyond.
