New wave of Birmingham rappers fired up by Lady Leshurr

One of the UK's biggest rap stars Lady Leshurr has inspired a new wave of MC's from her home city which is hosting a month-long music festival.

Birmingham's "Queen of Grime" won best female act at this year's Mobo awards and her best-performing video on Youtube, "Queen's Speech Episode Four", has been viewed 35m times.

At the city's Bass Festival, some of Birmingham's up-and-coming artists came together to take part in a freestyle rap battle and spoke of their inspiration.

One of those taking part, Lady Sanity, said: "What she's shown is if you keep on pushing it enough and believe in yourself and work, work, work, you can get there."
