The gold medallist and Commonwealth Games England president Denise Lewis says the event is an opportunity for young athletes "to really showcase what they do".
Lewis, who grew up in Wolverhampton, won gold in her first Games in Canada in 1994.
The Olympic heptathlon gold medallist was involved in the opening ceremony for this year's Commonwealth Games at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium on Thursday evening.
